TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AW6A-EL]Warning
^ A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before replacing the ATF.
Caution
^ Water or foreign material entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to allow water or foreign material on the connector when disconnecting.
^ Do not damage the terminals.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner component and air cleaner bracket.
3. Remove the TCM.
4. Place the heater pipe out of the way.
5. Remove the under cover.
6. Set the mudguard in a location out of the way. (front LH)
7. Remove the splash shield. (front LH)
8. Drain the ATF.
9. Remove the oil hose, oil pipe and O-ring.
10. Remove the control valve body.
11. Remove the coupler component lock plate.
Caution
^ Do not damage the wiring harness.
^ Do not pull hard on the wiring harness.
12. Remove the coupler component from the transaxle case.
13. Remove the O-ring and the gasket form the coupler component.
14. Apply ATF to a new gasket and install it on the coupler component.
Caution
^ Do not apply ATF to the O-ring.
15. Install a new O-ring to the coupler component.
Caution
^ Do not apply too much force to the coupler component.
^ Do not damage the coupler component.
16. Install the coupler component to the transaxle case.
17. Install a new coupler component lock plate.
18. Install the control valve body.
19. Apply ATF to a new O-ring and install it on the oil pipe.
20. Install the oil pipe and oil hose.
21. Add ATF to the specified level.
22. Install the splash shield. (front LH)
23. Install the mudguard. (front LH)
24. Install the under cover.
25. Install the TCM.
26. Install the air cleaner component and air cleaner bracket.
27. Connect the negative battery cable.
28. Perform the mechanical system test. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST [AW6A-EL].) Mechanical System Test
