DESCRIPTION
When it is necessary to remove and install the high pressure fuel pump and/or high pressure line pipe for vehicles with direct injection system, it is very important to follow the service cautions below.
CAUTION:
If the service cautions are not followed, fuel leakage may occur from the fuel pipe.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
High Pressure Fuel Pump Removal
Before removing the high pressure fuel pump (A), make sure to remove the "water outlet case installation bolt" (B) to loosen the high pressure line pipe.
If the bolt is not removed first, the fixed high pressure line pipe interrupts the removal of the fuel pump and the tip of pipe may be damaged (as shown below), which may result in fuel leakage.
NOTE:
If the tip of the pipe is damaged, replace it with a new one.
High Pressure Line Pipe Removal
When removing the high pressure fuel line, do NOT hold the pipe (A) and wiggle, otherwise, the pipe weld could be damaged or broken, which may result in fuel leakage.
Always hold the end of the pipe, then pull it straight out.
High Pressure Line Pipe Installation
Before installation, verify there is no damage on the tip of the line pipe.
Tighten the bolts in the order shown below:
NOTE:
Be sure to tighten the bracket bolts or the pipe could be damaged due to engine vibration, which may result in fuel leakage.
