Lighting - Water In Tail Lamp After A Rain

Bulletin No: 09-012/10

Last Issued: 02/19/2010

Subject:
WATER ENTERS REAR COMBINATION LIGHT

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2004-2009 Mazda3

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience water trapped in the rear combination light after rain. There is no fog or cracks on the lens, just a large amount of water inside the lens. A deformed seal gasket on the rear combination light causes the sealing performance to deteriorate, allowing water to enter the light. New service parts (rear combination light seal gaskets, super sheet type) have been established.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove the rear combination lights. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop manual section 09-20 REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.

3. Replace the rear combination light seal gaskets (both sides) with new parts.

4. Install the rear combination lights.

5. Verify repair.
