DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit gear noise from the manual transaxle. Excessive noise may be heard even when the shift lever is in neutral. The noise may be caused by a broken rear cover (B) resulting from a loose lock nut (A).

To prevent the lock nut from loosening, the bearing (C) engagement force has been increased at mass-production.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove and disassemble the manual transaxle according MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 05-15 MANUAL TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [G66M-R]).

3. Replace the main drive gear (A), gear sleeve (B), rear cover (C), 6th gear (D), bearing (E) and lock nut (F) with modified parts.

4. Reinstall the manual transaxle according MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 05-15 MANUAL TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [G66M-R]).

5. Verify repair.
