Subject:
FRONT SEAT-BACK TRIM PULLS OUT AT LOWER OUTER EDGE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS
2009 MAZDA6

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience the rear side trim on the front seat-back pulling out and causing a poor appearance concern. The trim length is too short and may get caught inside the side cover.

The trim length was lengthened during mass-production to eliminate this concern.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Move the seat-back to the most forward position.

3. Pull up the lower part of seat-back trim (near the pocket) and release the hook.

4. Cut 50 mm of the end of the seat-back trim hook.

5. Re-engage the seat-back trim hook.

6. After re-engaging seat-back trim hook, turn the seat-back trim up where hook was cut off.

7. Form the end of the seat-back trim to always stay outside the side cover.

8. Recline the seat-back 5 - 6 times to make sure the end of the trim does not get caught under the side cover.

NOTE:
After this procedure, the trim will sit outside the side cover. This may look slightly different from later production vehicles, but this is normal and will not affect any seat operation.
