Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Discharge the refrigerant. Refrigerant Charging
3. Discharge the engine coolant. Refrigerant Charging
4. Disconnect the cooler hose LO and cooler hose HI. Service and Repair
5. Remove the following parts:
a. Plug hole plate Service and Repair
b. Engine cover
c. Air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct component Service and Repair Service and Repair
d. Throttle body with the water hoses still connected. Position the throttle body so that it is out of the way Service and Repair Service and Repair
e. Coolant reserve tank Service and Repair Service and Repair
f. Cooling fan component Testing and Inspection Testing and Inspection
g. Disconnect the ATF oil cooler hose from the radiator (ATX) Oil Cooler Removal/Installation [FS5A-EL] Oil Cooler Removal/Installation [AW6A-EL] Oil Cooler Removal/Installation [AW6A-EL]
h. Front bumper Service and Repair
i. Front combination lights Front Combination Light Removal/Installation
j. Front energy-absorbing form Energy-Absorbing Form Removal/Installation
k. Front bumper reinforcement Service and Repair
l. Hood latch Service and Repair
m. Shroud panel Service and Repair
6. Remove the radiator. Service and Repair Service and Repair
7. Remove the condenser from the radiator. Do not allow remaining compressor oil in the refrigerant line to spill.
CAUTION:
- If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. Inspect for engine coolant leakage. Engine Coolant Leakage Inspection Engine Coolant Leakage Inspection
10. Inspect the ATF level. (ATX) Engine Coolant Leakage Inspection
11. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. Refrigerant System Performance Test
Condenser Installation Note
1. When install the condenser, push the upper bracket to radiator until locked.
2. When installing a new condenser, add compressor oil to the refrigerant cycle.
