Inspection Procedure/Repair Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Turn engine OFF.

NOTE:
Always use a fender cover and make sure to cover or remove all watches, rings & belt buckles to avoid damaging the paint during inspection.

2. Record customer's pre-set radio stations.

3. Disconnect negative battery cable.

4. Remove EJB cover.

5. Identify HVAC blower motor relay located under left front fender flange.





NOTE:
Refer to graphic on EJB top cover as necessary. The correct inspection relay is "BLOWER" relay, not "BLOWER 2" relay.

Recommended Blower Relay Removal Tool: Small right angle needle-nose pliers.

6. Using small right angle needle-nose pliers, gently remove HVAC blower motor relay by carefully pulling straight up (gently wiggle while pulling up) to avoid cracking relay housing.

CAUTION:
Be very careful not to apply too much pressure to the blower relay during removal with the pliers, otherwise relay housing cracking could occur.





7. Using an "L" shaped (3 mm or 1/8") hex wrench, lightly push down on all four (4) fuse box blower relay terminals.

- If all four (4) fuse box terminals stay at the surface of the fuse box, proceed to Step 8.

- If any one of the four (4) fuse box terminals can be pushed down below the surface of the fuse box, proceed to "REPAIR PROCEDURE" below.

8. Slowly and firmly reinstall HVAC blower motor relay into EJB box. Push into proper location straight down to bottom of relay cavity.

NOTE:
^ Do not re-use cracked blower relay.

^ Refer to graphic on EJB top cover as necessary.

9. Reinstall EJB cover.

10. Reconnect negative battery cable.

11. Turn engine ON.

12. Verify no dash warning lights stay on.

13. Switch A/C fan speed to max. high level to verify proper operation.

14. Re-enter customer's pre-set radio stations.

15. Reinitialize power windows.

16. Proceed to "CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION".

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove battery and battery tray.





2. Remove two (2) mounting bolts holding main fuse block and one (1) ground bolt.





3. Remove one (1) mounting nut.

4. Pull fuse block up to gain access to under cover.





5. Confirm fuse block is not damaged (discolored or deformed) around blower relay area.

- If fuse block is not damaged, proceed to Step 6.

- If fuse block is damaged, contact Technical Assistance Hotline.

6. Gently disconnect six (6) tabs holding under cover to main fuse block.





NOTE:
Be careful not to break tabs with screwdriver.

7. Push blower relay terminals (which normally creates a snapping noise) back into place and give several tugs to confirm all terminals are secure. If terminals cannot be secured, the fuse block is damaged; contact Technical Assistance Hotline.





NOTE:
^ Large wires that connect to blower relay are (1) Red and (2) Pink/Yellow.

^ Small wires that connect to blower relay are (1) Pink and (2) Black.

8. Reassemble in reverse order.

9. Reinstall battery tray and battery.

10. Turn engine ON.

11. Verify no dash warning lights stay on.

12. Switch A/C fan speed to max. high level to verify proper operation.

13. Re-enter customer's pre-set radio stations.

14. Reinitialize power windows.

15. Proceed to "CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION".

CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION





1. Fill out a blue "Campaign Label" (9999-95-065A-05) with the Campaign No: "MSP18", your dealer code, today's date, and affix it to the vehicle's hood.

2. Return vehicle to customer or dealer inventory.
