MAZDA SERVICE PROGRAM (MSP22) - AUTO WIPER / HEADLAMPS INOPERATIVE - ACCESSORY HOMELINK / COMPASS MIRROR

2009 MAZDA6 vehicles applicable to the "MSP22" VIN List on MS3
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles equipped with auto wipers and headlamps and port installed accessory Homelink/Compass mirror, may have a concern causing the auto functions to become inoperative. This may be due to the in-line tee connector from the accessory jumper harness not being connected to the body harness during accessory installation. Vehicles exhibiting this concern should have the vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
NOTE:
^ UNDER THE MAZDA SERVICE PROGRAM (MSP22), ALL CURRENT DEALER INVENTORY
VEHICLES SHOWN ON THE "MSP22" VIN LIST ON MS3, MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN.
^ BEFORE PERFORMING ANY REPAIR, VALIDATE THAT THE VEHICLE IS APPLICABLE TO THIS PROGRAM BY PERFORMING AN "eMDCS WARRANTY VEHICLE INQUIRY" AND VERIFYING THE VEHICLE DISPLAYS CAMPAIGN "MSP22" AND ITS CAMPAIGN STATUS DISPLAYS "OPEN". SEE "VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE" BELOW.
DEALER INVENTORY:
Inspect and repair if necessary, all applicable vehicles currently in dealer inventory that are shown on the "MSP22" VIN List on MS3, according to the procedures contained in this service bulletin.
VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Verify 2009 MAZDA6:
- If the vehicle is not on the "MSP22" VIN List, return the vehicle to dealer inventory.
- If the vehicle is on the "MSP22" VIN List, proceed to Step 2.
2. Perform a Warranty Vehicle Inquiry using your eMDCS System and inspect the vehicle for a Campaign Label MSP22 attached to the vehicle's hood. Refer to eMDCS System - Warranty Vehicle Inquiry Results table above.
NOTE:
Verify the campaign number as the vehicle may have multiple labels.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Start engine and turn headlight switch to AUTO position.
2. Using a piece of cardboard or thick paper, cover sensor located on windshield (sensor is directly opposite of rear view mirror mount on OUTSIDE of vehicle).
NOTE:
Cover sensor for a minimum of 20 seconds.
- If headlights turn on with sensor covered, then T-Harness is properly connected. Proceed to "CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION".
- If headlights do not turn on with sensor covered, proceed to Step 3.
3. To properly connect T-Harness connector to vehicle harness connector, refer to Fig. 5-1 of the EC Mirror Installation instructions for connector location (locate OE connector (C-21) under driver side dash, near A-pillar).
NOTE:
Accessing connectors does not require removal of any panels.
WARNING:
Use care when reaching up into the base of the "A" pillar area to repair these connectors, as there are may be sharp surfaces.
4. After proper connections are completed, start engine and turn headlight switch to AUTO position.
5. Use cardboard or thick paper to cover sensor on windshield.
NOTE:
Cover sensor for a minimum of 20 seconds.
6. Verify headlights turn on with sensor covered.
7. Proceed to "CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION".
CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION
1. Fill out a blue "Campaign Label" (9999-95-065A-05) with the Campaign No: "MSP22", your dealer code, today's date, and affix it to the vehicle's hood.
2. Return vehicle to dealer inventory.
