FRONT FACIA POPPED OUT AT FENDER

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2009-2010 Mazda6 vehicles produced before April 27, 2010.

DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles may experience a concern where the front fascia appears popped out" just below the head lamp.

This may be due to a combination of a retaining issue with the clip and the installation procedure.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the entire bumper during the repair.





2. Remove five (5) front splash shield retaining screws.

3. Remove bumper from retainer clip.

4. Replace the retainer clip.





5. Seat the bottom two (2) bumper clips into the retainer (2 clips farthest from the head lamp).





6. The top will appear popped" out. Use your hand to press down at the fog lamp opening.





NOTE:
This will open the gap (A) at the fender to about 4mm.





7. While pressure is still applied to the fog lamp area, seat the final clip into the retainer (A). Listen for an audible click" to ensure it is fully installed.

8. Verify repair.
