APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience a concern where the console lid (A) latch breaks. This may be due to a material that does not allow any flex when the lid is lifted with the latch being released.
A revised latch of a new material is now available so the console cover can be repaired without replacing the entire cover.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove the latch (A) from the console lid (B).
3. Install the spring (A) to the new latch correctly.
a. Catch the edge (B) of the spring (shorter straight portion of the spring) with the boss (C) of the latch (groove side).
b. Put the short straight end of the spring (A) into the groove (B).
c. Push and compress the spring and fit it into the boss of the latch on the opposite side (A).
4. Install the latch into the console lid.
a. Apply the tape (A) on the console lid to prevent damage.
b. Insert the long straight end of the spring (A) into the slit of the console lid (B).
c. Fit the bosses on both sides of the latch (A) into the console lid, then remove the tape.
5. Verify repair.
