AIR BAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT FLASHING - DTC B1126:1B OR B1127:1B

APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS
2009 MAZDA6 vehicles produced before August 30, 2008

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience an airbag system warning light flashing with DTC B1126:1B or B1127:1B.

^ DTC B1126:1B - Driver-side side air bag module circuit resistance high.

^ DTC B1127:1B - Passenger-side side air bag module circuit resistance high.

This may be caused by coating on the terminals allowing oxidation. The new terminals have a tin coating to prevent oxidation.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Perform diagnostic procedure for B1126:1B or B1127:1B according to Workshop Manual
(section 08-02 DTC B1126:11/B1126:12/B1126:19/B1126:1A/B1126:1B or DTC B1127:11/B1127:12/B1127:19/B1127:1A/ B1127:1B) to eliminate common causes such as poor connections, wire harness open circuit or short circuit, etc.

3. If no common causes are observed, replace side air bag module according to Workshop Manual (section 08-10 SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

4. Verify repair.
