Electrical - Multiple DTC's Due To Low Battery Charge

Bulletin: 01-032/09

Last Issued: 07/17/2009

Subject:
DTCs STORED IN MEMORY DUE TO LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS
2009 MAZDA6

DESCRIPTION

When a vehicle is kept in inventory for an extended period of time or is used under certain conditions, the battery voltage drops. This can cause a malfunction in communications between components and result in the following DTC(s).

If these DTC(s) are stored, follow the repair procedure below.

^ P0560:16 - Advanced keyless entry and push button start system

^ P1794:16 - Advanced keyless entry and push button start system

^ U3003:16 - Advanced keyless entry and push button start system

^ B00A0:87 - Error signal from seat weight sensor control module

^ B00A0:28 - Seat weight sensor calibration setting invalid

^ U0401:92 - Instrument cluster

^ U0415:92 - Instrument cluster

^ U0515:92 - Instrument cluster

^ U0232:00 - BSM control module (LH)

^ U0233:00 - BSM control module (RH)

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify DTC(s) are stored in memory.

2. Measure battery voltage according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual.

3. If battery voltage is low, charge the battery.

CAUTION:
When servicing the battery, it is important to remember that high spikes in voltage can damage the complex circuitry in the vehicle.

CAUTION:
If charging the battery is necessary, disconnect the battery cables to eliminate potential vehicle damage. Also, using a high voltage/current jumper to jump start the vehicle could damage the vehicle as well, so vehicle to vehicle jumping following the Owner's Manual procedure is recommended.

4. Delete all stored DTC(s).

5. Check if there are any other concerns (other than the battery) by attempting to duplicate the DTC(s).

6. Check if the same DTC(s) are still stored.

- If DTC(s) are still stored, follow the appropriate repair procedure on MS3 online or Workshop Manual.

- If DTC(s) are not stored, the symptom is caused by low battery voltage. Follow the appropriate repair procedure on MS3 online or Workshop Manual to find the cause and repair it.

7. Verify repair.
