Keyless Systems - Advanced Key Is Inoperative

DESCRIPTION

Some customers may complain that the advanced key does not work at all. This may be due to poor contact caused by an oxidation between the battery and the transmitter terminals. The coating procedure for the terminals inside the transmitter has been changed during mass-production to eliminate this concern.

Customer's having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify concern.

2. Remove auxiliary key from back of transmitter body.

3. Verify transmitter build date code at bottom right corner of transmitter body.

- If transmitter date code is BEFORE 11/28/08, proceed to Step 4.

- If transmitter date code is AFTER 11/28/08, refer to Workshop Manual diagnostics.

4. Replace advanced key transmitter.

5. Perform transmitter programming using Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS) to allow security access to smart keyless entry system.

6. Confirm doors can be locked / unlocked and engine can be started with new transmitter.

7. Destroy old transmitter.
