DESCRIPTION
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin is designated primarily for body shops. In order to further reduce the amount of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from the painting process, MC Japan has introduced the "Aqua-Tech Paint System" which is a newly developed waterborne based paint technology.
OUTLINE
The newly developed basecoat (the color) has been adopted in the system. The basecoat is now waterborne.
Due to adoption of the waterborne basecoat, the amount of VOC emissions was reduced by 57% compared to the current painting system without increasing the amount of CO2 emissions.
The Aqua-Tech Paint System achieves the equivalent quality of the current painting system (solvent) in terms of durability and performance.
LAUNCH PLAN
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Although the Aqua-Tech Painting System has adopted waterborne basecoat, either basecoat, waterborne or solvent borne can be used when performing refinishing. The repair procedure is the same as that of vehicles painted under the current painting system. The repairability and refinishing quality were validated using materials sold in markets as of February, 2009.
