DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience a MIL on with any or all DTCS P2401/P24021 P2404 stored in memory. When the EVAP system leak detection pump (LDP) is checked, the terminal of the connector is corroded with water inside. This water is being sucked into the opening of the canister drain hose when going through an automatic car wash with the engine running because the canister is under negative pressure.
P2401: EVAP system LDP motor circuit low
P2402: EVAP system LDP motor circuit high
P2404: EVAP system LDP sense circuit problem
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace the LDP and short cord with a new one, and replace the filler hose protector (A) with a modified one by refering to the Points of Filler Hose Protector Installation.
Points of Filler Hose Protector Installation
Rotate the canister drain hose (A) towards the fuel filler pipe (B) so as not to contact the the rib (C) of the fuel filler hose protector (D).
3. Verify repair.
