Manual Transaxle Removal/Installation
MANUAL TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [G35M-R]
1. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the following parts:
a. Battery and battery tray Removal and Replacement
b. Air cleaner component Service and Repair
c. Exhaust manifold insulator
d. Windshield wiper arm and blade Windshield Wiper Arm and Blade Removal/Installation
e. Cowl grille Cowl Grille Removal/Installation
f. Cowl panel Cowl Panel Removal/Installation
g. Wheels, tires and splash shields
h. Under cover
i. Starter Removal and Replacement
j. No.1 reserve tank with the hoses still connected and position the No.1 reserve tank aside so that it is out of the way Service and Repair
k. Reserve tank bracket Service and Repair
4. Drain the transaxle oil into a suitable container. Transaxle Oil Replacement
5. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
7. Add the specified amount of specified transaxle oil. Transaxle Oil Replacement
NOTE:
- If the transaxle is overhauled and installed to the vehicle, perform the "INSPECTION AFTER TRANSAXLE OVERHAUL" and verify that there is no abnormality. Inspection After Transaxle Overhaul
Shift Cable And Select Cable Removal Note
1. Remove the both shift cable end and select cable end using a fastener remover.
No.4 Engine Mount Removal Note
1. Install the SST using the following procedure.
CAUTION:
- Refer to the SST instruction manual for the basic handing procedure.
a. Install the right rear shaft of the SST to the bolt of the right shock absorber as shown in the figure.
b. Install the left rear shaft of the SST to the bolt of the left shock absorber (Identical position to right side).
c. Install front foot No.2 to the right front shaft of the SST, then align the groove of the right front shaft of the SST with the folded up part of the vehicle as shown in the figure.
d. Install front foot No.2 to the left front shaft of the SST, then align the groove of the left front shaft of the SST with the folded up part of the vehicle frame (Identical position to right side).
e. Adjust the positions of the SST side bars so that they are the same height (left and right) and horizontal.
f. Make sure each joint is securely tightened.
2. Support the engine using the SST.
3. Remove the battery tray bracket, No.4 engine mount rubber and bracket.
Manual Transaxle Removal Note
1. Lean the engine toward the transaxle.
2. Support the transaxle on a jack.
3. Remove the transaxle mounting bolts.
4. Remove the transaxle.
Manual Transaxle Installation Note
1. Set the transaxle on a jack and lift into place.
2. Install the transaxle mounting bolts.
No.1 Engine Mount and No.4 Engine Mount Installation Note
1. Adjust the SST (49 C017 5A0) so that the engine is located at the specified position.
2. Install the No.4 engine mount bracket on the transaxle case and tighten bolt and nuts.
Tightening torque
- 68-92 Nm {7.0-9.3 kgf-m, 51-67 ft-lbf}
3. Install the No.1 engine mount rubber to the cross member and temporarily tighten bolts.
4. Place the No.4 engine mount rubber with the body stud bolts passing through the holes and tighten the bolt in the figure.
CAUTION:
- Do not reuse the No. 4 engine mount rubber installation bolt unless it has a washer.
Tightening torque
- 129.9-152.7 Nm {13.3-15.5 kgf-m, 95.9-112.6 ft-lbf}
5. Place the battery tray bracket on the No.4 Engine mount rubber with the body stud bolts passing through the holes and tighten nuts and bolts in the figure.
Tightening torque
- 1. 44.0-61.0 Nm {4.5-6.2 kgf-m, 32.5-44.9 ft-lbf}
- 2. 8.8-12.7 Nm {90-129 kgf-cm, 77.9-112.4 in-lbf}
6. Remove the SST(49 C017 5A0).
7. Tighten the No.1 engine mount rubber bolts as shown in the figure.
CAUTION:
- Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the figure to prevent abnormal noise and vibration after assembly.
NOTE:
- Tighten bolts 1 and 2 to the same tightening torque.
Bolt length (measured from below the head
- Front crossmember side: 62 mm {2.441 in}
- No.1 engine mount bracket side: 65 mm {2.559 in}
Tightening torque
- 72.6-90.9 Nm {7.41-9.26 kgf-m, 53.6-67.0 ft-lbf}
