Bulletin No: 07-001/11

Last Issued: 03/04/2011

Subject:
SQUEAK NOISE FROM A/C COMPRESSOR

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2010-2011 Mazda3 vehicles (including Mazdaspeed3)
with VINS lower than JM1BL******367236 (produced before July 27, 2010).

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the magnetic clutch of the A/C compressor. The noise occurs every time the magnetic clutch engages, and is caused by insufficient engagement force between the pressure plate and the A/C compressor pulley. To correct the problem, the design of the pressure plate has been changed.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

NOTE:
When tightening the bolt on the A/C pressure plate, turn on the "A/C Relay" with the M-MDS.

9. Measure the clearance around the entire circumference between the pressure plate (A) and the A/C compressor pulley (B) using a thickness gauge (C).

Clearance: 0.35-0.65 mm (0.014-0.025 in)

If not within specification: Remove the pressure plate and adjust the clearance by changing the shim or number of shims (A).
