Overhaul
WHEEL HUB, STEERING KNUCKLE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY
1. Disassembly in the order indicated in the table.
2. Assembly in the reverse order of removal.
Wheel Hub Component Disassembly Note
1. Remove the wheel hub component using the SSTs.
2. If the bearing inner race remains on the front wheel hub component, perform the following procedures.
When not using the SST
1. Grind a section of the bearing inner race until approx. 0.5 mm {0.02 in} remains.
2. Remove the bearing inner race using a chisel.
When using the SST
1. Position the SSTs and a spare bolt (M10) as shown in the figure.
CAUTION:
- When tightening section A, tighten section B securely because the engagement of the SST tab is shallow and it can come off easily.
2. Tighten the A, and disassemble the bearing inner race.
Wheel Bearing Disassembly Note
1. Remove the wheel bearing from the steering knuckle using the SSTs.
Dust Cover Disassembly Note
NOTE:
- The dust cover does not need to be removed unless it is being replaced.
1. Mark the dust cover and steering knuckle for proper installation.
2. Remove the dust cover using a chisel.
Wheel Hub Bolt Disassembly Note
NOTE:
- The hub bolts do not need to be removed unless they are being replaced.
1. Remove the wheel hub bolts from the wheel hub using a press.
Wheel Hub Bolt Assembly Note
1. Install new wheel hub bolts using a press.
Dust Cover Assembly Note
1. Mark the new dust cover in the same way as the removed one.
2. Align the marks of the new dust cover and the knuckle.
3. Install the new dust cover using the SSTs.
Wheel Bearing Assembly Note
NOTE:
- Install the wheel bearing with the ABS encoder (identification color: pink) facing inside of the vehicle.
1. Install a new wheel bearing using the SSTs.
Wheel Hub Component Assembly Note
1. Install the steering knuckle to the wheel hub component using the SSTs.
