Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZR 1.5]
Visual Inspection
1. Remove the CMP sensor. Service and Repair
2. Verify that there are no metal shavings on the sensor.
- If there is a malfunction, replace the CMP sensor. Service and Repair
3. Install the CMP sensor. Service and Repair
Voltage Inspection
CAUTION:
- Water penetrating the connector will cause sensor malfunction. To prevent this, be careful not to damage the wiring harnesses or the waterproof connector so as to cause water penetration.
1. Idle the engine.
2. Measure the camshaft position signal and verify that rectangular waves are produced. PCM Inspection
3. If not as specified, replace the CMP sensor. Service and Repair
