FLYWHEEL INSPECTION [G35M-R]

1. Perform the following procedures.
a. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

b. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

c. Remove the battery component. (ex: battery, battery tray and PCM component) Removal and Replacement

d. Remove the air cleaner component. Service and Repair

e. Remove the exhaust manifold insulator installation bolts and set the exhaust manifold insulator aside.

f. Remove the exhaust manifold bracket. Service and Repair

g. Remove the front splash shield. Splash Shield Removal/Installation

h. Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2. Aerodynamic Under Cover No. 2 Removal/Installation

i. Remove the starter. Removal and Replacement

j. Drain the transaxle oil into a suitable container. G35M-R

k. Remove the manual transaxle. G35M-R

l. Remove the clutch cover and clutch disc. G35M-R

2. Measure the runout of the surface that contacts the clutch disc using a dial gauge.






- If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the flywheel. G35M-R

Flywheel maximum runout
- 0.1 mm {0.004 in}

3. Remove the flywheel. G35M-R

4. Inspect the ring gear teeth for damage and wear.

5. Inspect the surface that contacts the clutch disc for scratches, nicks, and discoloration.
1 If there is any malfunction, correct slight scratches and discoloration using sandpaper.






6. Measure the flatness of the flywheel with a straight edge and a feeler gauge.






- If there is any malfunction, replace the flywheel.

- 0.06 mm {0.002 in}
