MIL ILLUMINATION WITH DTC P0600:00

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2011-2013 Mazda6 2.5L vehicles with VINS lower than 1YVHZ****D5M07793 (produced before June 18, 2012)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience a MIL illumination with a DTC P0600:00 stored in memory. As a result, the customer may also notice a loss of engine power while driving due to engine fail-safe mode initiation.

^ DTC P0600:00: Serial communication link

The MIL illumination may be cleared by disconnecting the negative battery cable, however, the DTC P0600:00 remains stored in memory.

This concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic of PCM, which has been changed. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the customer concern.

2. Replace the PCM with modified part according to the instructions on M53 online or the Workshop Manual (section 01-14 PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5]).

NOTE:
PCM replacement requires MASH authorization prior to repair. Contact MASH at 888832-8477, option 2, to obtain prior authorization.

3. After PCM replacement, perform the following:

- PCM configuration (section 01-14 PCM CONFIGURATION [MZR 2.5]).

- Immobilizer system component replacement / key addition and clearing (section 09-14 IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING [KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM] or IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING [ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM]).

4. Verify the repair.
