Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
OIL SEAL (DIFFERENTIAL) REPLACEMENT [G66M-R]
CAUTION:
- Performing the following procedures without first removing the ABS wheel-speed sensor may possibly cause an open circuit in the wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before performing the following procedures, disconnect the ABS wheel-speed sensor connector (axle side) and fix the wiring harness to an appropriate place where it will not be pulled by mistake while servicing the vehicle.
1. On level ground, jack up the vehicle and support it evenly on safety stands.
2. Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2. Aerodynamic Under Cover No. 2 Removal/Installation
3. Drain the transaxle oil from the transaxle. Removal and Replacement
4. Remove the front tires. Service and Repair
5. Remove the splash shields. Service and Repair
6. Disconnect the drive shaft (LH) from the transaxle. Drive Shaft Removal/Installation
7. Disconnect the drive shaft (RH) from the joint shaft. Drive Shaft Removal/Installation
8. Remove the joint shaft. Joint Shaft Removal/Installation
9. Remove the oil seals using a screwdriver.
10. Using the SSTs and a hammer, tap each new oil seal in evenly until the SST contacts the transaxle case.
11. Coat the lip of each oil seal with transaxle oil.
12. Install the joint shaft. Joint Shaft Removal/Installation
13. Install the drive shaft (RH) to the joint shaft. Drive Shaft Removal/Installation
14. Install the drive shaft (LH) to the transaxle. Drive Shaft Removal/Installation
15. Install the splash shields. Service and Repair
16. Install the front tires. Service and Repair
17. Add the specified amount and type of transaxle oil. Transaxle Oil Replacement
18. Install the aerodynamic under cover No.2. Aerodynamic Under Cover No. 2 Removal/Installation
