Front Suspension - Crossmember Removal/Installation





FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
- Performing the following procedures without first removing the ABS wheel-speed sensor may possibly cause an open circuit in the wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before performing the following procedures, remove the ABS wheel-speed sensor (axle side) and fix it to an appropriate place where the sensor will not be pulled while servicing the vehicle.

1. For 6MT vehicles, perform the following procedures.
a. Disconnect the purge solenoid valve connector wiring harness from the bracket.

b. Remove the bracket from the air intake hose and move the purge solenoid valve component out of the way. Service and Repair

c. Remove the following parts as a single unit. Service and Repair

- Air intake hose
- Resonance chamber No. 2
- Resonance duct No. 1
- Resonance duct No. 2

2. Remove the front suspension tower bar. Service and Repair

3. Remove the splash shield A. Service and Repair

4. Remove the front under cover. Front Under Cover Removal/Installation

5. Remove the front stabilizer Front Suspension - Stabilizer Removal/Installation

6. Remove the transverse members Front Suspension - Transverse Member Removal/Installation

7. Remove the steering gear and linkage, and suspend it using a cable.

8. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

9. Install in the reverse order of removal.

10. Inspect the front wheel alignment. Front Wheel Alignment









Axle and Hub Component Removal Note

1. Loosen the front upper arm inner bolts.

2. Remove the axle and hub component.

Front Crossmember Component Removal Note

1. Secure the chain to install the SST to the position shown in the figure using the bolts (M10 x 1.5, length 30 mm {1.18 in}).






2. Suspend the engine.






3. Support the front crossmember using a jack.






WARNING:
- Verify that the crossmember component is securely supported by a jack. If the crossmember component falls, it could cause serious injury or death, or damage to the vehicle.

4. Lower the front crossmember component slightly.

5. Remove the engine mounting rubber, pipes and hoses installed to the front crossmember.

6. Remove the front crossmember component.
