Pilot Bearing Inspection
PILOT BEARING INSPECTION [A26M-R]
CAUTION:
- Secure the steering wheel using tape or a cable to prevent the steering shaft from rotating after disconnecting the steering shaft. If the steering wheel rotates after the steering shaft and the steering gear and linkage are disconnected, the internal parts of the clock spring could be damaged.
NOTE:
- Perform the pilot bearing inspection with the crankshaft or flywheel installed.
1. Perform the following procedures.
a. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement
b. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Removal and Replacement
c. Remove the PCM cover No.1. Service and Repair
d. Disconnect the PCM connector. Service and Repair
e. Remove the battery tray and PCM component Removal and Replacement
f. Remove the air cleaner component Service and Repair
g. Remove the charge air cooler cover Service and Repair
h. Remove the charge air cooler Service and Repair
i. Remove the fuel pump resistor Service and Repair
j. Remove the front tires Service and Repair
k. Remove the splash shield Splash Shield Removal/Installation
l. Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2 Aerodynamic Under Cover No. 2 Removal/Installation
m. Remove the WU-TWC bracket Service and Repair
n. Remove the starter Removal and Replacement
o. Remove the front auto leveling sensor Service and Repair
p. Drain the transaxle oil into a suitable container. Transaxle Oil Replacement
q. Remove the manual transaxle. Manual Transaxle Removal/Installation
r. Remove the clutch cover. Service and Repair
s. Remove the clutch disk. Service and Repair
2. Inspect the rotation condition of the pilot bearing for damage or wear.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the pilot bearing. Service and Repair
