Task

Producing the braking force for the wheel brakes with the help of brake fluid

Design of brake master cylinder models 460, 461 (vehicles without ABS)

1 Compression spring
2 Intermediate piston
3 Compression spring
4 Piston
5 Housing

Design of brake master cylinder model 463 with ABS

1 Cylinder housing
2 Compression spring
3 Valve spring
4 Valve gasket
5 Valve pin
6a/b Primary cup seal
7 Roll pin
8 Intermediate piston
9 Separating cup seal
10 Compression spring
11 Support ring
12 Filling washer
13 Stop washer
14 Secondary cup seal
15 Plastic bush
16 Thrust rod piston locking ring
17 Thrust rod piston

The brake master cylinder has an intermediate piston with integrated central valve, which means that the compensation bore in the intermediate piston brake circuit is no longer used. This function is assumed by the central valve.

The central valve prevents the primary cup seal of the thrust rod piston being damaged at the compensation bore due to pressure fluctuations which are produced by the ABS control processes during brake pressure build-up
