GF80.35-P-0002GH Radio Frequency/Electric Central Locking (RFL), Function

The radio frequency/electric central locking (RFL) system consists of two components:

Access and drive authorization system
A special lock number and eight key numbers exist for each vehicle. During installation the keys and engine control module are "married" with the all-activity module (AAM). This means that the AAM "learns" the key numbers of the valid keys and the special lock number. The engine control module then "learns" from the AAM the special vehicle lock number. Moreover the AAM writes an alternating code into each valid key. This alternating code is changed by the AAM each time the key is inserted into the ignition lock. Before the vehicle can be started the drive authorization is checked.

Radio frequency remote control
The central locking system is controlled by a radio frequency signal from the remote control key. The remote control key transmits a code containing its key number identifying it as a valid key.
