GF91.60-P-2003GI Activation Of Airbag SRS Indicator And Warning Light - Function

The airbag indicator and warning light (A1e15) located in the instrument cluster is illuminated by a ground signal from the restraint systems control module (N2/7).

The airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) is activated under any one of the following conditions:
- circuit 15R "ON" for 4 s. up to 28 s. (System test ) or
- detection of a fault in the system or
- Control module is improperly or not yet programmed (light flashes).

The airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) remains lit when:
- all in all 3 crash events are stored by the restraint systems control module (N2/7),
- in the event that in a crash the mechanical safety sensor in the restraint systems control module (N2/7) has prevented the triggering of an initiator.

The supplemental restraint system cannot be deployed during a self test.

After initially detecting an error, the restraint systems control module (N2/7) tests for continued error presence for approximately 2.5 s. Only then is the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) activated. At the same time, the DTC memory starts recording. The control module checks continually, whether the given and detected fault is still present. If over a period of 4 s the fault is no longer recognized, the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) goes out again.
