Function (D-net telephone)
Currently the Nokia 6210 portable CTEL (D-net "portable CTEL") can be fitted.
When installing the portable CTEL in the vehicle, the use of an adapter (interface) is necessary.
Differences exist when installing the telephone systems due to vehicle-specific features (convertible). This requires the use of different car antennas.
In the convertible, the antenna for the telephone is combined in the rod antenna in the right-hand fender.
In station wagons having a short and long wheelbase, a roof antenna is fitted. Depending on the vehicle and antenna type, 'antenna splitters' are used. With the telephone system, the user has the opportunity of conducting telephone calls via the installed hands-free system without having to hold the handset or the portable CTEL, which benefits driving safety.
If the system is to be operated, first it must be registered in the telephone network.
After it has been registered successfully, the user can call up General functions, Memory functions Menu functions and through corresponding key combinations on the handset or portable CTEL.
In this case, the display on the handset or on the portable CTEL provides a series of messages giving the user information about the operating state (e.g. menu selection) of the telephone.
With the portable CTEL, it must also be remembered that the conversation is to be conducted via the hands-free system. The volume of the speaker at the handset or on the portable CTEL and thus also that of the hands-free system can be set individually by the user on the handset or portable CTEL.
To ensure that the voice entry given by the user via the microphone of the hands-free system is as accurate as possible, the radio is muted automatically by the transmitter/receiver during a call.
Muting on the portable CTEL takes place via the adapter (interface). When muted, the word "Phone" appears in the radio's display. Additional information can be found in the operating instructions.
