Tailgate Cannot Be Opened

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of not being able to open the tailgate, perform the following repair.

Perform the new software flash found in STAR Diagnosis 10/2005 for the Rear Signal Acquisition and Actuation Module (Rear SAM). The flash can be completed by performing the following:

1. Navigate to the following STAR Diagnosis menu: Control Units --> Body --> Rear SAM --> Control Unit Adaptations ~ Control Unit Programming

2. Follow on screen prompts for flashing procedure.

Note:
Do not replace rear SAM or rear lock for this condition.

Note:
If fault code 90C7 is already current and stored in the Rear SAM, resolve this prior to flashing by following DTB T-B-54.21/154a dated November 21, 2005.

The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair.
