AIRmatic driver information
Various messages are displayed for the AIRmatic and adaptive damping system (ADS) in the instrument cluster, Comfort/Sport switch (ADS) and the level adjustment switch.

Turning on the ignition and starting the engine
When the ignition is switched on, the LED's in the Comfort/Sport switch (ADS) and level adjustment switch light up and display the setting selected before "Ignition OFF" when the engine is running.

Display evaluation
If electrical faults occur in the AIRmatic or ADS system the "Visit workshop!" message appears in the instrument cluster The fault is stored in the AIRmatic with ADS control unit (N51) and can be read out using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

Emergency running
A malfunction in the adaptive damping system leads to the ADS being switched off. The damping is set to the hardest level. If a fault occurs in the suspension system or level control system, the system attempts to maintain the set vehicle level. Manual and automatic level adjustment are no longer possible.

Comfort/Sport switch (ADS)
The driver can program the damping level as desired using the Comfort/Sport switch (ADS):
1. "AUTO" Skyhook mode (no display)
2. "SPORT" Firm damping (LED lights)
3. "COMFORT" Soft damping (LED lights)

Level control switch
Switch actuations enable the driver to choose between a highway level and a raised level. The vehicle is in the highway level state (no function indicator). If the vehicle is lifted to the raised level, the LED in the switch flashes on and off. When the level is reached the LED remains constantly on. The last stage selected with function indicator is active once the engine is started again.

As long as the message: "Vehicle rising" is indicated in the instrument cluster, the desired vehicle level has not yet been reached

If raising the vehicle speed-dependent is canceled, the message "Level selection canceled" appears in the instrument cluster for t = 10 seconds".

If the vehicle is raised several times in succession, the air compressor motor (A9/1m1) may switch off at times to prevent any overload. It may then take an unusually long time to raise the vehicle level.
