A8/1 Transmitter key

Design
An "electronic key" is integrated in the transmitter key. This key includes an FM radio transmitter, an infrared transmitter/receiver unit, a computer chip as well as 2 batteries (button cells). Moreover, the following controls and control indicators are integrated:
^ Battery indicator lamp (1)
^ Lock transmit button (2)
^ Unlock transmit button (3)
^ Mechanical emergency key (4)
^ Slider to unlock mechanical emergency key (5)
^ Panic alarm transmitter button (6) (only USA)
The mechanical emergency key can be released and removed using the slider for unlocking the mechanical emergency key.

Task
The following functions can be controlled:

Central locking (CL [ZV])
Actuate "Lock" transmit button:
^ Pressing once the CL is locked globally.
^ Pressing and holding (while aiming at left front IR receiver (A26/1)), convenience closing is performed.
Actuate "Unlock" transmit button ("Selective" setting)
^ When pressing once, driver door and fuel filler flap are unlocked.
^ When actuated a second time, the vehicle is unlocked completely.
Actuate "Unlock" transmit button ("Global" setting):
^ When pressing once, the vehicle is unlocked completely.
^ Pressing and holding (while aiming at left front IR receiver), convenience opening is performed
Switchover unlocking from "Selective" to "Global" or vice versa:
^ Press and hold "Lock" transmit button and "Unlock" transmit button simultaneously for approx. 5 seconds until the battery indicator lamp flashes twice.

Panic alarm (only USA)
Actuate panic alarm transmit button:
^ The panic alarm is triggered when actuated for t = 2 s.
^ The panic alarm is terminated when reactuated for t = 0.5 s.

Drive authorization stage 3 (DAS 3)
When the transmitter key is inserted into the EIS control unit (N73) it is supplied with voltage. Data exchange takes place to verify the drive authorization status.

Battery check
When the "Lock" transmit button or the "Unlock" transmit button is actuated, the battery indicator lamp comes on momentarily and indicates the proper state of the batteries in the transmitter key.
