Installation Instructions

Power Window 82.1

Type 463

These installation instructions describe the subsequent installation of the power windows.

The installation instructions are divided into the following sections:

A. Installation
1. Front power windows

82.1 Power Window





A. Installation

1. Front power window

1 Disconnect battery at negative terminal.
2 Unclip trim on door lining.
3 Remove pugs on door handle.





4 Unscrew screws on door handle
5 Unscrew oddments tray and remove.





6 Unscrew screw of door lining in the area of the right and left window.





7 Press cover of door operation towards the outside of the door and remove.

Note: The cover has a hook fixture.





8 Unclip cover at window lifter in the direction of crank axle.
9 Remove window lifter.
10 Unclip door lining and remove over door locking mechanism.





11 Unscrew stop bolt on seat frame.

Note: Bolt for
Driver's seat: on right of seat frame
Front passenger's seat: on left of seat frame

12 Remove upper part of seat frame, complete with seat back, in forward direction out of the guide rail.
13 Unscrew bottom part of seat frame at the bottom.





14 Remove covering under the left of the instruction panel.
15 Take out foot mat and remove accelerator pedal.
16 Remove side panelling.

Note: Remove front left and right floor carpeting and undo screws (arrow).





17 Remove left and right speaker. (Example: left speaker)





18 Remove steering wheel.

Note: Mark steering wheel and hub.

19 Remove jacket tube casing (1).
20 Remove wooden panel.





21 Remove blower switch (1) and release nut beneath it.
22 Remove radio and pull out oddments tray (2).
23 Release bolts and pull out push-button panel somewhat.

Note: Mark all connectors to the corresponding push-buttons and detach.





24 Unclip Bowden cables (1) for air distribution behind the switch panel.
25 Remove push-button panel.





26 Release shift lever cover and detach.

Note: Mark connectors to corresponding switch.

27 Push back cover of parking brake lever slightly and remove.





28 Unscrew 4 bolts on housing.





29 Remove ashtray and unscrew two screws.





30 Remove housing.

Note: Housing is engaged in the transmission tunnel cover.





31 Remove nozzles left and right.





32 Release all bolts of oddments tray (1) and remove.

Note: Slightly lift oddments tray, disconnect heater pipes and remove tray.





33 Unscrew 2 screws on the fusebox.
34 Pivot electrics compartment downwards.





35 Pre-assemble bracket with fusebox (x2)





36 Drill 2 holes with dia. 6 mm in the cover of the electronics compartment.

Note: Use bracket as template.





37 Connect convenience cable harness to terminal 30 and to the fusebox (x2).





38 Connect convenience cable harness to multiple connector.

Note: Multiple connector behind control panel.

39 Connect plug connector for door contact feed to convenience cable harness.

40 Route power window cable harness (x2) from the electrics compartment to the transmission tunnel as well as in the area of the A-pillar to the left and right.
41 Connect cable harness according to the wiring diagram, refer to section "B".





42 Connect terminal block, terminal 58d and ground to middle console.





43 Wedge the window pane.





44 Unscrew lifter mechanism.





45 Unscrew screws of window lifter.





46 Unscrew window pane mounting screws.





47 Remove complete lifter mechanism.





48 Install complete power window lifter.

Note: Do not turn motor incorrectly towards power window.





49 Screw in screws on window lifter mount.

Note: Do not tighten screws until after closing several times.





50 Connect plug connection for power window motor.





51 Screw screws on power window motor.





52 Thread cable connection of electric motor through the sleeve and connect to cable harness in the A-pillar.





53 Mill out a section for the switch in the wooden cover using a tool.

Note: up to vehicle ident. no. 077743 install a new wooden cover.

54 Assemble switch in wooden cover.
55 Assemble transmission cover.
56 Assemble middle console.
57 Assemble shift lever cover.
58 Assemble steering wheel.





59 Widen door lining hole for window lifter to dia. 38mm and close with supplied cap.

Note: Fasten cap with hot adhesive.

60 Attach door lining complete.
61 Attach door handle and oddments tray.
62 Connect battery and carry out function test.





2. Rear power windows

Note: Only installation of the rear power windows is described, as in the front the installation is the same as described under section 1.

1 Unclip trim on the rear compartment door.
2 Remove plugs on door handle.
3 Unscrew screws on door handle.





4 Press cover of door operation towards the outside of the door and remove.

Note: The cover has a hook fixture.

5 Unclip cover on window lifter in the direction of the crank axle. Remove window lifter.
6 Remove door lining.





7 Disconnect speaker plug. (special equipment)





8 Remove door rubber seal on B-pillar.





9 Press off seat belt cap in upward direction.
10 Unscrew seat belt.





11 Unscrew bottom seat belt mounting (driver's and front passenger's side).





12 Unthread seat belt from lining (B-pillar).





13 Remove side lining of B-pillar.
14 Mark section for power window switch on the lining of B-pillar.

Note: use rosette as template.





15 Saw out section.
16 Clip in rosette.
17 Release rear floor carpeting.





18 Route power window cable harness from transmission tunnel to left and right B-pillar.





19 Stick cable harness to the floor panel with adhesive tape.
20 Remove mechanical window lifter in the same manner as the front window lifter, section "A" 1.
21 Install complete power window lifter.

Note: Do not turn motor incorrectly towards power window.





22 Screw on window pane mounting screws.

Note: Do not tighten screws until after closing several times.





23 Screw on screws of window lifter.





24 Plug on power window motor plug connection.





25 Screw screws on power window motor.





26 Thread electric cable from motor through sleeve in B-pillar.





27 Fasten electric cable to B-pillar and connect cables according to wiring diagram, refer to section "B".





28 Connect cable harness at transmission tunnel with front power window cable harness.





29 Mill out a section for the switch in the wooden cover using a tool.

Note: up to vehicle ident. no. 077743 install a new wooden cover.

30 Assemble switch in wooden cover.
31 Assemble transmission cover.
32 Assemble middle console.
33 Assemble shift lever cover.





34 Widen door lining hole for window lifter to dia. 38 mm and close with supplied cap.

Note: Fasten cap with hot adhesive.

35 Attach door lining complete.
36 Connect battery and carry out function feet.
