GF07.04-P-6110GZ Component Description For Catalytic Converter Temperature Sensor
ENGINE 642.8 in MODEL 463 up to 31.5.12
- as of model year 2011
/YoM 10
ENGINE 642 in MODEL 164.8 /1 up to model year 2008
/YoM 07
ENGINE 642.9 in MODEL 463 up to 31.5.12

Model 164

B19 CAT temperature sensor (on engine 642.9)

Location
The TWC temperature sensor is located on the oxidation catalytic converter.

Task
The CAT temperature sensor determines the current exhaust gas temperature upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter.

Model 463 on engine 642.8

B19/7 Temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter

Location
The temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter detects the exhaust temperature upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter.

Task
The temperature sensor upstream of catalytic converter detects the exhaust temperature upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter.

Design
The CAT temperature sensor or temperature sensor upstream of the catalytic converter consists of a metal housing into which a negative temperature coefficient resistor (NTC) and 2-pin connector are integrated.

Function
The NTC resistor alters its electrical resistance in line with the exhaust temperature. The electrical resistance decreases as temperature increases (NTC thermistor)

The CDI control unit (N3/9) monitors the function of the oxidation catalytic converter within the scope of on board diagnosis (OBD) resulting from the change in the resistance of the CAT temperatures sensor or the temperature sensor upstream of the catalytic converter.
