Functions in the case of ignition ON:
- ME-SFI voltage supply for fuel injection and ignition system
- Actuating fuel pump for about 1 s (partially audible) as a full running protection. The engine must be started before the fuel pump is actuated again.
- The engine diagnosis indicator lamp or the CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp (USA) in the instrument cluster must light up (lamp check).
- If ignition "ON", data are exchanged over the CAN data bus (e.g. circuit 50 signal).
- The throttle valve actuator always checks its return spring after ignition ON and carries out a positioner adaptation in certain conditions.

If the fuel pump is not running, first of all, check the fuses for the driver SAM control module with fuse and relay module for the ME control unit power supply and the fuel pump fuse at the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module.
