GF07.04-P-6020BK Component Description For The Camshaft Hall Sensor

Location
The camshaft Hall sensor is located at the front at the right cylinder head.

The distance between the camshaft Hall sensor and the segment at the exhaust camshaft sprocket is not adjustable and therefore is determined by its installation position.

Task
The ME control unit detects the ignition TDC position of cylinder 1 from the signal supplied by the camshaft Hall sensor and synchronizes the injection and firing sequence.

Function
The signal line of the camshaft Hall sensor has a voltage signal of approx. 12 V ("high"). If the segment of the camshaft sprocket moves past the camshaft Hall sensor, the signal jumps to 0 V (LOW) The "0 V signal" is used for identifying "ignition TDC cylinder 1"

If no signal is received from the camshaft Hall sensor, the ME-SFI control unit determines the ignition TDC of cylinder 1 randomly. The engine starts about one second later and the exhaust emission values at start are not optimal.
