- MODEL 251.1 /0 up to Model Year 8
General
The warning threshold for the remaining time is used for stipulating the time, from which point the vehicle user is informed using an appropriate warning at the earliest before reaching the service date calculated by the service calculation. The warning threshold for the remaining time is primarily decisive for the service warning in cases when the remaining time reaches the service warning threshold earlier than the remaining distance of the determinate reference variable. The service calculation takes this variable into account in the calculation of the determinate reference variable for the next service. The remaining time warning threshold is stored in the central gateway control unit (N93) and can be adjusted using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
The remaining distance is the basis for all calculations. Service items, for which only one remaining time can be calculated are converted to one remaining distance with the assistance of the daily mileage. The value that is closest to the service date is the decisive variable. The date is adapted in driving mode for every new day. This provides updated service interval end points for all activated service items.
Display of the remaining time
The remaining time is basically not displayed until the remaining time "X" (in days) of the average mileage has been reached and the warning threshold has been exceeded.
Upon driver's request, the display of the remaining time then takes place:
- Automatically, after reaching the warning threshold, after the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) has been set to position "Circuit 15 ON" or the engine has been started: The service symbol is shown for t = 10 s and "Service X in X days" displayed.
- Automatically, after the remaining time has expired, after the EIS [EZS] control unit has been set to position "Circuit 15 ON" or in driving mode: The service symbol and the display "Perform Service X" appear for t = 10 sec. This display appears 1 day before and 1 day after the calculated service date.
- Automatically, after the remaining time has expired, after the EIS [EZS] control unit has been set to position "Circuit 15 ON" or the engine has been started: The service symbol and "Service X exceeded by X days" display appear for t = 10 sec. A brief warning tone is additionally sounded.
If ASSYST is missing measurement values, e.g. due to the failure of a sensor, it uses the substitute values stored in the control units. A corresponding entry is made in the fault memory of the central gateway control unit.
