GF07.61-P-3026BK Engine Oil Information - Function

The information engine oil has the following tasks:
- Warning the driver that the oil level is too low by means of an indication in the instrument cluster,
- Detecting the oil temperature,
- Detecting oil quality for demand-based oil change interval display

The information from the oil sensor is permanently transmitted over a PWM signal to the ME control unit and then further over the CAN data bus to the Instrument cluster.

Oil level and oil quality (capacitance of the engine oil) are interdependent. The information is first compensated for in the ME control unit.

Faults at the oil sensor are detected by the ME control unit and entered in the fault memory.

The oil level, oil temperature and oil quality are detected by means of the oil sensor installed in the oil pan.

The oil sensor operates in accordance with the capacitive measuring principle and features integrated electronics which combines the three signals into one PWM signal.
