Head Restraint and/or Seat adjustment Nonfunctional and/or SRS Illuminated/Seat Heater and/or Active Ventilation Nonfunctional/Seat Noise
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles for any of the following conditions, follow the respective repair instructions to resolve.
Condition 1:
Seat adjustment is nonfunctional.
Cause 1:
Inaccurate positioning of the felt on the transverse pipe of the door side.
Remedy 1:
For vehicles produced up to November 29, 2006, proceed as follows.
a) Move the seat all the way to the back of the seat adjuster and set the cushion angle to the highest position.
b) Remove the two cushion frame brackets at the front of the seat (Figure 1, Pos. 2)
c) Open the clip of the exposed plastic clips (Figure 2, Pos. 4).
d) Push the assembly wedge between the transverse pipe and the cushion frame to act as a spacer (Figure 3, Pos. 3).
e) Remove the existing felt on the transverse pipe and completely remove any adhesive residue (Figure 4, Pos. 5).
f) Lightly coat the lugs of the sliding block with lubricant (A000 989 36 60)
g) Remove the assembly wedge. Reassemble by positioning the cushion frame over the plastic bearings on the transverse pipe, clip the plastic bearing shells together then insert the cushion frame brackets at the front and bolt down
h) Verify functionality.
Condition 2 through 5:
2) Heated seats and/or active ventilation nonfunctional
3) SRS warning shown in the instrument cluster
4) Electric restraint adjustment nonfunctional
5) Creaking noise from the area of the cross member of the height adjuster
Cause 2 through 5:
Seat wiring harness in the height adjuster may be damaged as a result of incorrect routing.
Remedy 2 through 5:
Ensure wiring harness is routed correctly (Figure 5)
a) If necessary, release the wiring harness from the cushion shell.
b) Remove the locator for the harness. The locator will be reused in step c.
c) Use position/hole as shown in Figure 2, Pos. 4 to attach harness. Reuse the locator which was removed from the incorrect position (Figures 2 and 3).
d) Clip in the harness.
e) If the wiring harness is damaged, repair as per WIS document AR 00.19-P-0100A.
