Interior - Console Storage Compartment Sticks/Won't Open

Except Vehicles Equipped with the Off-Road Package (SA code 430) Storage Compartment in Center Console Does Not Open / Sticks

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the storage compartment in the center console not opening or sticking, this may be due to the crash lock being triggered during an accident or installation. To resolve, perform the following.

1. Remove center console storage compartment by removing instrument panel center section. Refer to WIS document AR68.10-P-1030GZ.





2. Disengage storage compartment by releasing side tabs (Figure 1, arrow).








3. Verify crash lock has been triggered (Figure 2, arrow or Figure 3, arrow).

Note:
If crash lock has been triggered the tab will be located at the uppermost or lower most limit on the track.





4. Disengage spring lock (Figure 4, Arrow).





5. To reset crash lock, push in the storage compartment door and adjust crash lock tab to center point (Figure 5, Arrow).





6. Engage the spring lock (Figure 6, Arrow).

7. Reinstall center console storage compartment in reverse order.
