General front fog lamp actuation function sequence

Front fog lamp actuation comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Front fog lamp actuation
^ Rear fog lights actuation

Front fog lamp actuation

Function requirements
^ C. 30 ON
^ Rotary light switch set to standing lights or manual driving lights position (for United States Of America) only in manual driving lights position) and pulled out to the 1st detent

Front fog lamp actuation function sequence
The position of the rotary light switch is read in over LIN by the upper control panel control unit and transmitted to the front SAM control unit via CAN-B.

The front SAM control unit actuates the following components:
^ Left front fog lamp
^ Right fog lamp

For the function feedback, the upper control panel control unit actuates the front fog lamp indicator lamp (S1e1) in the rotary light switch via LIN.

Rear fog lights actuation

Function requirements
^ C. 30 ON
^ Rotary light switch set to standing lights or manual driving lights position (for United States Of America) only in manual driving lights position) and pulled out to the 2nd detent

Rear fog lamp actuation function sequence
The position of the rotary light switch is read in over LIN by the upper control panel control unit and transmitted to the front SAM control unit via CAN-B.

The front SAM control unit forwards the switch-on request via CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit.

For the function feedback, the upper control panel control unit actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp (S1e2) in the rotary light switch via LIN.

Depending on the equipment fitted, with left-hand drive coding the rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
^ Left taillamp and rear fog lamp
^ Left taillamp, side-marker lamp, parking lamp

With right-hand drive coding, the rear SAM control unit actuates the corresponding components on the right side of the vehicle.

^ Rear fog light on trailer
(for code (550) Trailer hitch)

For vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, during trailer operation the rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated (not for United States Of America).
