Update Rear SAM Software
Daimler AG has determined that opening and closing of the tailgate with the key remote, while the vehicle is locked, may cause the battery to drain due to incorrect Rear SAM rest current logic. To correct this condition, Dealers will update the Rear SAM software at the next workshop visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 42,893 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
Note:
^ Use DAS 04/09 with all associated patches or higher.
^ Follow the steps exactly as described.
^ Connect battery charger.
1. Connect Star Diagnosis.
2. Install rear SAM control module software: Follow DAS path: Control units/Body/Rear SAM/Initial start-up.
