Function requirements:
^ Voltage supply o.k.
^ Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) bus active
^ The portable CTEL (A34/6) must be in the UPCI [UHI] portable CTEL holder (Universal Handy Interface) (A34/15)
^ Authorized SIM card present in portable CTEL
^ Correct PIN entered in successful log-in in specific service provider network
Call set-up
^ After entering the desired telephone number or selecting a stored entry the number pad on the portable CTEL and pressing the "Accept phone call" button on the portable CTEL, the call is set up.
^ The call is set up after entering the desired number or selection of a stored number with the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and then pressing the "Accept phone call" button.
^ The telephone book function can be selected using the system selection button (S110s3) of the multifunction steering wheel and a stored telephone number can be selected using the scroll forward/back button (S110s1). The call is then set up using the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3).
^ By pressing the VCS [SBS] on button (S111s4) on the multifunction steering wheel, voice control is activated. An acoustic signal is emitted after activation has taken place.
The stored telephone numbers are located either on the SIM card or in the telephone's own memory.
If an audio source is active when a call is started, it is muted regardless of whether it is an incoming or outgoing call. When muted, the message "Call" appears, for example in the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit or in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).
With the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI) system, all calls are made via the hands-free system with the portable CTEL inserted. The "private mode" is not possible.
Terminating a call
The user has several ways of terminating the call:
^ Pressing the "Terminate call" button on the portable CTEL
^ By pressing the "Accept/terminate phone call" button on the multifunction steering wheel
^ By pressing the "Terminate phone call button" on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit, with COMAND APS (with navigation system), code 527, or the radio and navigation unit with MB Audio 50 APS radio, code 525
The signal is transmitted to the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1), which then interrupts the connection.
