Television reception

A TV single tuner is installed in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) as standard. TV signals are received by the rear window and side window antennas. TV signals are routed by the

^ Left antenna amplifier module (A2/64)
^ Right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) and
^ TV rear window antenna amplifier (A2/92)

modules over HF lines to the TV antenna selector (A2/79). The best of the 4 TV signals is forwarded to the COMAND operating, display and control unit.

The system enables the user to receive the individual television channels in the Japanese NTSC frequency range, and to view them on the screen of the COMAND operating, display and control unit. Playback can be either in stereo or mono. The interface is generated by the COMAND operating, display and control unit. Depending on the vehicle equipment, the audio signals are amplified by the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) (sound system, code 810) or the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) and emitted over the vehicle speakers.
The TV function is only available when the vehicle is stationary and the parking brake engaged. While driving only the acoustic playback is active and a warning message is shown on the screen.
