GF40.15-P-2004RTU Detecting Rapid Pressure Loss, Function
GF40.15-P-2004RTU Detecting rapid pressure loss, function
- with CODE (470) Tire pressure monitor (base)
- with CODE (494) USA version
Function
Driving safety is no longer guaranteed if there is a rapid pressure loss. If progressive pressure loss is detected during a certain period of time while driving, it is assumed that a tire is defective. In this case a warning (at t = 60 s after start of pressure loss greater than 0.2 bar/min) is triggered even before the triggering parameter for the hard warning is reached.
If the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) detects that a rapid pressure loss (greater than 0.25 bar/minute) occurs at one wheel, a "hard warning" ("red" display) is issued.
This "hard warning" continues to be displayed with circuit 15 "ON".
When circuit 15 is switched back "ON" a "soft warning" is issued. The "soft warning" is repeated at each engine start if the tire pressure monitor (TPM) system is not reactivated.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp (A1e66) in the instrument cluster (A1) is activated at the same time as the "hard warning". The warning is canceled when filling detection or a manual reactivation is successfully carried out.
The driver is responsible for deciding whether to continue driving at low speed to the next specialist workshop or whether a repair (fitting the spare tire or using TIREFIT) is necessary on site.
