GF82.60-P-2000RTE Audio Functions
- with CODE (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
Radio
The roof antenna module (A2/93) filters the amplitude modulation (AM) and the frequency modulation (FM) signals, amplifies them, and relays them to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). The AM and FM signals are demodulated in the radio receiver for FM or AM (SW, MW, LW), the wanted signal is amplified and output over the vehicle speakers.
With code (810) Sound system, the audio signals are digitized and transmitted by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3). There, the audio signals are processed, amplified and then output to the vehicle speaker.
Radio functions
^ Receiver for FM and AM signals from radio stations
^ FM double tuner
^ AM interference suppression
^ Generation of the signal for the intermediate frequency (IF [ZF]) feedback (for activating the diversity processor in the roof antenna module, only in the FM band)
^ Automatic station search for traffic stations after loss of TP station (background scan)
^ RDS-EON (reception of TP stations belonging to the same station network)
^ FM list of stations (stations can be manually saved for each radio band)
^ Selection of the preferred radio station via buttons on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and via the function keys of the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) (left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110), right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111))
^ SEEK (automatic station search)
^ Tune (manual tuning)
^ Last mode (last radio station selected is selected again after switch-on)
Playing audio CDs
The single-slot disk drive above the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and the CD changer (A2/6) (code (819) 6-disk CD changer) can play CD audio media (in Red Book audio format).
The single-slot disk drive and the CD changer (code (819) 6-disk CD changer) have different menus.
The following can be controlled with the menu:
^ "TrackMix" (Off, CD, all CDs in CD changer)
^ "Repeat" (Off, Track, CD)
^ Track skip forward and backward
^ Manual track entry via keys, "*" and number entry
^ Stop and play (for Mute only)
^ Track search forward/back
^ Intro Scan
^ Automatic CD reload (when medium is not removed from tray after 20 seconds)
^ Display of time, track and number of all music tracks
^ Track number of the music track currently playing
^ Repeat status, track switch, play switch, random play switch
If the CD changer (code (819) 6-disk CD changer) is installed, the COMAND operating, display and controller unit automatically displays which CD slots contain a CD. In this display, the CD change slots are numbered accordingly (CD1 to CD6).
User navigation for controlling CD functionality and for displaying supplemental information is shown in the display of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit. The most important information is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1).
The most important functions can also be controlled using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel (left multifunction steering wheel button group, right multifunction steering wheel button group).
Audio signals are digitally transmitted by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit over MOST to the sound system amplifier. The audio signals are boosted by the amplifier for sound system and output via the vehicle's audio speakers.
On vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the audio signals are amplified by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit and output directly over the audio speakers installed in the vehicle.
Along with playing audio media, the disk drive of the COMAND operating, display and controller unit is also required to read in navigation data from the navigation DVD.
This contains the important map data for map navigation for example. The navigation system functions here using a "corridor function", i.e. as long as the corridor for the calculated route is not deviated from, navigation with active front audio is possible. If the navigation DVD is taken out while the navigation system is active, display of the map on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit is no longer active. Navigation instructions then only ensue as pictograms in the instrument cluster.
