GF77.20-P-2033RT Tilting/Sliding Roof (SR) Normalization And Denormalization, Function
- with CODE (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof
- up to model year 08

Performing normalization
Open tilting roof manually with roof switch (N70s1) until the mechanical stop is reached and continue to press roof switch. The overhead control panel control unit (N70) M12m1continues to actuate the SR motor and resets the position counter to zero when it detects that the SR motor is locked up for at least 0.5 s. Before the lock-up position "Open pop-up roof" is reached, at least 3 edges of the square wave voltage must be recognized by the Hall sensor 1, SR (M12b1) and Hall sensor 2, SR (M12b2). Normalization via automatic opening of pop-up roof with tilting/ sliding roof switch (SR) or via the convenience actuation is not possible.

The tilting/sliding roof is now normalized, i.e. the overhead control panel control unit can switch off the SR motor before reaching the mechanical stop when opening and closing the tilting/sliding roof automatically.

Normalization must take place when denormalization was accomplished or occurred previously. The position of the tilting/ sliding roof is not known to the overhead control panel control unit in the denormalized state.

Denormalizing occurs when:
^ The power supply is interrupted
^ The tilting/sliding roof exceeds the defined motion range by
25 SR motor rotations
^ One of the two Hall sensor signals fails for 10 edges
^ Two Hall sensor signals are absent for > 320 ms even after tilting/sliding roof is reversed time-controlled.
^ The defined Hall sensor signal sequence is faulty
^ Hall undervoltage and emergency opening are present
^ Start of automatic normalization at end of line
^ A defect of the excess force limiter is recognized

The position of the tilting/sliding roof is not known to the overhead control panel control unit in the denormalized state.

The tilting/sliding roof can only be actuated manually in the "Open sliding roof" and "Open pop-up roof" direction with the roof switch. Closing is no longer possible with the roof switch, because it cannot definitely identify the direction of the motor rotation. To indicate that it is denormalized and to avoid strain on the mechanical limit stop in the "Sliding roof open" position, the drive is actuated in the "Open sliding roof" position for only approx. 250 ms.Then it is again necessary to actuate the roof switch in the "Open sliding roof" direction.

Normalize tilting/sliding roof to restore complete function.
