Voice control, general
The voice control system (VCS [SBS]) can be used to call up and operate the individual functions of the driver information system via voice control.The VCS [SBS] is integrated into the COMAND operating, display and controller unit. The system can be controlled by voice by spelling out or entering complete words.

Operating instructions
The VCS [SBS] is activated or deactivated via the VCS [SBS] switch on the steering column tube module.

Voice control function sequence
The control signal from the VCS [SBS] switch is forwarded to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via the following route:
- Direct line
- Steering column tube module
- Interior CAN
Voice input is made via the accompanying handsfree system microphone group. The words spoken are converted into an electrical signal by the handsfree system microphone group and routed to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via direct lines.
Voice output in vehicles with code (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/kardon Logic 7) takes the form of audio signals sent by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via MOST to the sound system amplifier and from there via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Subwoofer
- Left cockpit tweeter
- Right cockpit tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
In vehicles without code (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/kardon Logic 7), the audio signals are output by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit via direct lines to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left rear speaker
- Right rear speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Left cockpit tweeter
- Right cockpit tweeter
