Component Identification:

Location
The upper control panel control unit is located on the center console.

Task
The upper control panel control unit performs the following tasks:
^ Reading in of signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Transmitting signals

Reading in of signals
Signals are read in via the following connection:
^ Instrument panel LIN (LIN 1)

Instrument panel LIN
The upper control panel control unit reads in function feedback requests over the instrument panel LIN. These are sent from the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

Feedback on the activity of the following functions is provided by the corresponding light-emitting diodes in the buttons on the upper control panel control unit's controls:
- PARKTRONIC (with code (220) PARKTRONIC)
- Rear window roller sun blind (with code (540) Roller sun blind)
- Front seat heater (with code (873) Seat heater, left and right front seat)
- Vehicle dynamics (with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package)
- Downhill Speed Regulation (with code (430) Offroad package
- Off-road program (with code (430) Offroad package)
- Start-stop function (with code ( B03) ECO start-stop function)

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Transmission of signals
Signals are sent through the following connection:
^ Instrument panel LIN

Instrument panel LIN
The upper control panel control unit sends the function requests for the integrated buttons over the instrument panel LIN to the front SAM control unit:
