GF88.79-P-2006CE Passenger-Side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function
GF88.79-P-2006CE Passenger-side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
- except CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (460) Canada version
- as of model year 09
Function requirements, general
^ Circuit 15 ON or circuit 15R ON
^ Function in instrument cluster (A1) enabled
^ Right outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s11) selected
^ Reverse gear engaged
^ Position measurement supplies valid readings
^ Vehicle speed v < 10 km/h
The electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) transmits the circuit status c. 15 to the interior CAN (CAN B) and chassis CAN (CAN E).
Function sequence for park position of passenger side outside mirror, general
The park position for the passenger side outside mirror can be stored and actuated electrically to observe the curb when backing up.
The passenger side outside mirror park position comprises the following subfunctions:
^ Actuate park position function sequence
^ Store park position function sequence
^ Move to drive position function sequence
Actuate park position function sequence
When the reverse gear is engaged for t > 0.6 s, the right front door control unit (N69/2) adjusts the right mirror glass to the park position with the vertical inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m1) and horizontal inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m2).
The passenger side outside mirror park position function can be activated or deactivated with a menu in the instrument cluster via the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111).
The request signal is transmitted via the steering LIN (LIN E1) to the steering column tube module control unit (N80), from there to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the chassis CAN and from there to the instrument cluster via the interior CAN.
Reading in reverse gear status:
On model 204.0/2 with transmission 711 or 716:
The backup lamp switch (S16/2) is read in directly by the front SAM control unit.
This transmits the status to the right front door control unit via the interior CAN.
For transmission 722:
The request "Shift to drive stage R" is defined by the corresponding selector lever position and the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) relays the status to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (on diesel engine) via the drive CAN (CAN C) or the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (on gasoline engine).
This transmits the signal via the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit, which transmits the status to the right front door control unit via the interior CAN.
Store park position function sequence
First adjust desired park position of right outside mirror manually via the right outside mirror adjustment switch.
The park position is stored by the left front seat adjustment switch group (S22). After momentarily pressing the front left memory function switch (S22s6) and then actuating the right outside mirror adjustment switch in any direction within t = 3s the momentarily stored outside mirror position is stored as park position.
A manual adjustment of the right outside mirror in the park position is stored as a new park position.
Move to drive position function sequence
The right outside mirror is automatically returned to the original position, when:
- another gear range was engaged and a time of approx. t = 10 s has elapsed or
- the vehicle speed is v > 10 km/h or
- the left outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s10) is actuated or
- if c. 15 is off
The original position is resumed, even when the right outside mirror has been moved to the park position manually.
If with c. 15 ON the reverse gear is recognized, the park position last adjusted is actuated after t = 0.6 s.
