The left exhaust gas recirculation positioner is located at the rear next to the turbocharger.

Location for model 461
The exhaust gas recirculation actuator (Y27/9) is located at the front right next to the high-pressure pump.

Task
In order to reduce the nitrogen oxide (NO(X)) emission the exhaust gas is led into the engine intake tract. This takes place via a channel the cross-section of which can be altered by the exhaust gas recirculation positioner. Actuation of the exhaust gas recirculation positioner takes place via the CDI control unit (N3/9).

The exhaust gas recirculation actuator is integrated in the cooling circuit of the engine as protection against thermal load.
